Engagement Party Venue Birmingham
Teal Velvet, Gold Birdcages and Thai Food
Siamais is an engagement party venue Birmingham couples choose for the room as much as the food: teal velvet booths, gold birdcages and a long back-lit bar in Brindleyplace. Book a semi-private booth for a family dinner, or hire the whole venue for up to 120 seated or 150 standing, from £2,000.

A room that arrives already decorated
Most engagement parties start with a blank function room and a budget for making it look like something. Siamais starts from the other end. The restaurant was designed as a through the looking glass take on old Siam, with teal velvet chairs and booths, gold birdcage booths you can sit inside, birdcages and lanterns hanging from the ceiling and a hexagonal tiled floor. The bar runs long and is lit from behind.
That matters for an engagement because the photos from this party get used. They go on the wedding website, in the save the dates and on both families' phones. The room has plenty of natural light during the day, which flatters everyone, and the heated, covered terraces give you a second backdrop. Have a look at the 3D virtual tour before you visit. It lets you walk the floor and decide where the two of you would stand for a toast.
An engagement party venue Birmingham families can agree on
An engagement party is often the first time two families eat together, and the menu has to work for all of them. Thai food is a good diplomat. The kitchen uses halal chicken and lamb. Vegetarian and vegan guests have a full three course set menu of their own, Grounded in Siam, at £41.95pp. Gluten free options are marked, and allergies are catered for when the team knows ahead of the day.
For the wider table, Taste of Siam at £44.95pp covers familiar ground such as chicken satay, spring rolls, sweet and sour chicken and chicken red curry, which keeps cautious relatives happy. The Siam Feast at £49.95pp steps up to golden bags, tempura prawns and duck in tamarind sauce, with an optional lobster middle course for £9.50pp. Dishes come to the table for sharing, so people pass plates and talk, which is what you want from a first meeting.

Drinks reception, canapés or a sit-down dinner
The format depends on how many people you are inviting. For close family and a few friends, a semi-private gold birdcage booth or a sectioned area with a set menu is the natural fit. It feels like an occasion, the bill is predictable, and there is no minimum spend to think about on an ordinary group booking.
For a bigger guest list, exclusive hire gives you the whole restaurant and bar for up to 120 seated or 150 standing. Here you can pick between canapés, a buffet and a seated three course meal, or ask for a bespoke menu. A popular shape for an engagement is a standing drinks reception with canapés, because guests from both sides mix more easily on their feet than they do pinned to a seating plan. The large bar space is made for that. If grandparents are coming, ask us to keep some seating available.
Toasts, champagne and cocktails
For the toast, the champagne list runs from Telmont Brut through Laurent Perrier Brut at £92 and Bollinger at £130 to Dom Perignon at £350. The sparkling wine, Di Maria, is the sensible choice if you are pouring for 100 people. A French 75 made with Telmont champagne is on the list at £15 for anyone who wants their fizz with a kick.
Cocktails are where Siamais has its own character. The Book of Siam has 20 signatures, including the 1941 with lychee and elderflower liqueurs, a Raspberry Ripple with coconut rum and vanilla, and the Lychee Margarita. The bar creates company-branded cocktails for corporate events, so ask whether a drink can be named for the two of you. Guests who do not drink alcohol, often a good share of a family party, can choose from eight mocktails at £7.95, among them a Thai milk tea and an alcohol free Pina Colada.

Photographer, decorator and entertainment in one booking
Siamais works with a network of trusted photographers, venue decorators and entertainers. For an engagement party that usually means three questions. Do you want a photographer for the arrivals and the toast? Do you want extra styling, such as flowers or a welcome sign, on top of what the room already has? Do you want entertainment once the formalities are done?
You can answer yes to any of those and have the venue arrange it, which saves you vetting strangers from a search result. Tell us the look and the budget when you enquire. On music, the house sound is chilled through the week, moving to soulful house, deep house, remixes and dance classics at weekends. If you are hiring the venue exclusively and want something particular, such as a first-dance practice run or a family playlist, raise it early so it can be agreed with your quote.
What it costs and how the deposit works
A booth or area booking is priced by what you eat and drink. Set menus are £41.95 to £49.95 per person, cocktails are £11.50 to £13.25, and a table booking takes a £5 per person deposit that comes off the bill on the day.
Exclusive hire starts from £2,000 for the whole venue, and the figure varies with the day and time. It works as a minimum spend, and all food and drink supplied by Siamais counts towards it. A 50% deposit confirms the date. It is non-refundable and is deducted from your final bill. For couples saving for a wedding, the deposit is not an extra cost, but it is committed money, so be sure of the date and the rough guest numbers before paying. If two families are splitting the bill, agree the split before the night and tell us how you would like to settle up.

Guest ages, access and travel
Check the age policy before inviting nieces and nephews. Siamais is over 18s only from Friday to Sunday, and on Monday to Thursday under 18s have to be gone by 8pm. An engagement party with children in the family needs a weekday and an early start. The venue has disabled access and facilities, which matters for older relatives, and there is no cloakroom.
Oozells Square sits just behind Brindleyplace. Relatives arriving at New Street can take the tram from Grand Central to Library or Brindleyplace, or a 7 minute taxi. Guests driving in from the M6 at junction 6 should allow under 20 minutes and can park at Q-Park Brindleyplace, with 10% off through YourParkingSpace using SIAMAIS10.
